Additional features the UAD version supports that the Waves version does not are the option to switch from black to brown knob for the low end. To me, the two plugins are a world apart in how they sound and behave (sorry, Waves). Its high and low frequency ranges are individually select-able as either peaking or shelving, and a band-pass filter can be inserted independently of all other settings. The EQP-1A is one of the most musical EQs ever invented. And the UAD plug-ins are far superior to the Waves stuff. UAD introduces a lot of latency because it is not totally compatible with the new Macs.Don't get me wrong they are great but the Neve and other plug ins from UA are just so good. And as of this post, it’s on sale for $29, so it won’t break the bank either. As I said before, both devices are very similar when it comes to hardware. The Waves CLA-76 VST plugin gives you both models of the compressor, known as ‘Blacky’ and ‘Bluey’ (hardware versions are the UREI/Universal Audio 1176 Blue Stripe and 1176 Blackface).
